The most relaxing family vacation we've ever taken!
"We stayed at Casa Tres Azules the last week of November 2013. We were 3 small families, and the house was amazing! Each family had one of the casitas and the children slept in the TV room, which has 2 beds, and the maid's/mother in law room. It was perfect. We really didn't leave the house much, as there is absolutely no reason to! The beach is AMAZING and very private. We rarely saw anyone else on the beach, just a few fishermen on our morning walks. There is a little lagoon, not too far down the beach where the kids loved to play. We were worried, based on things we'd read, about the undertow and the current, but it wasn't too bad. It was definitely strong at times, but we kept an eye on the kids and they were able to play in the water, boogie board and body surf with no problem. The water was bathtub warm, just perfect. The beach and water were very clean, no debris as we've seen at other beaches along the Pacific. The pool at the house was also amazing. It was perfect for everyone as there is a deeper lap pool area and then a shallow area with a large platform that is great for little kids. As you walk up from the beach to the house, there is a water spigot where you can wash off so as to not track sand into the pool. There is also an outdoor shower on the side of the house near the pool.
I can't say enough good about Nina the house manager and Julio the groundskeeper. They were both amazing and so helpful! Julio has a van and you can arrange to have him pick you up at the airport if you aren't planning on renting a car. If you want to go into the city regularly, you'll want a car, but if you are just planning on staying at the house, you could arrange for Julio to help you get into the market or the airport. We had Itzel cook for us while we were there and she was fantastic! She was so friendly and nice to have around and the food was delicious and displayed beautifully. We especially loved the pina coladas and fruit juices that she'd make from fresh coconuts on the property and the fresh pineapples up the street. We would tell Julio what we needed each day and he'd cut them off the trees fresh! Amazing! His wife also makes delicious tortillas and you can have Julio bring them each morning. We truly LOVED every minute of our stay at the house. It was warm and humid, so we stayed in the pool most of the day, but the air conditioners in each room made sleeping very comfortable. Thank you Katherine for sharing your home!"

Delightful Stay
"Two Adults, three teenagers- it was a perfect stay. At first, the surf feels like a drumbeat, within an hour, it is like your heartbeat. Never slept better. The pool is fantastic. We all swam laps. The house and bedrooms are great and the grounds beautiful. Be sure to ask for Tony to do your cooking. His meals were all fresh, creative, filling and he is highly informative and a lot of fun. We had a strict vegetarian in our group and he was flexible. Be sure to accompany him shopping. Rent a car. We travelled all over: to Escondido, for surfing lessons, on eco-tours (we helped release tiny baby turtles into the surf). Lots to do in Escondido and Tony (or Nina) can steer you to some great restaurants. Also, for teens, the house is completely online. A fabulous way to spend a restful, interesting weekend with loads of great family time."

Amazing! Thank you
"It was our pleasure to have stayed at Casa Tres Azules for two weeks in January. The weather was perfect and the tropical setting made us feel as though we were on an island in the South Pacific.
The home was as beautiful as the setting and had every modern convenience you could wish for, including wireless connectivity for computers and tablets and satellite TV. However being connected was incidental to our reason for vacationing there. We wanted to enjoy authentic Mexican culture and a tropical coastal setting. We were not disappointed.
The home is located on the beach and the sound of the surf is ever present. Long walks on the seemingly endless beach in the early morning and at sunset were magical. Wild life is abundant, with whale and dolphin sittings a common occurrence. There was a wide variety of bird life that was both beautiful and entertaining. Of particular interest were the large flocks of pelicans that cruised just above the surf and could be seen diving for fish. The area is a nesting spot for sea turtles and tracks in the sand could be seen where they came ashore to lay their eggs.
The beaches to the north in and around Puerto Escondido were beautiful, affording surfing, snorkeling scuba diving, fishing and just plain relaxing in the sand. The town itself is very interesting. The people are very friendly and there is a variety of good restaurants. Shopping at the local market, which is home to a large number of small seafood, meat and produce vendors, was one of the high lights of our trip. It is a great place to get really fresh items and see how the locals purchase their food.
There is a beautiful backdrop of the Sierra Madre Mountains just to the east. We hope to return to this fascinating place one day soon and when we do we hope to visit some of the waterfalls and other points of interest in those mountains."

Stayed with my girlfriend for an amazing extended weekend in Puerto Escondido!
"The house is located directly on the beach. We woke up to sounds of the ocean and a view every morning. The town is about 10 minute drive with a excellent selection of local produce. With good company, the beach, a pool, and Internet not many reasons to leave the house. Highly recommend this house!"

Excellent Amenities! Super Relaxing
"We had a wonderful stay, and look forward to coming again!
The home itself is beautiful, but the miles of almost empty beach just a few dozen yards from the house, the near perfect weather, and amenities made it even more special for my family. Combined with a well-maintained pool just steps from the bedroom and main house doors, we never lacked for a perfect spot in the sun, or a relaxing dip in the pool or ocean to cool off!
I can't say enough about the high quality of the home itself, with tile floors, granite countertops, even a/c in the bedrooms (not much need for it, but nice to have in case, we only used it once!) along with all the electronic gadgetry the modern family needs. We all stayed in separate casita's each with a king sized bed, built in couch and full large bathroom.
Wifi worked well and trouble free throughout the house, with a 50 inch TV (again we only watched TV once, for the Super Bowl) placed in a "media" room that seats eight easily (and sleeps up to three if need be) with hundreds of channels (many in english including ESPN, golf channel, cnn and many more), and connected blue ray player. The provided google phone allowed for easy calling to and from the US and easy local calling. Nice to be able to always be in touch with family at home and on those thankfully rare occasions for us, work.
While we spent the vast majority of our time at Casa Tres Azules, we did spend a day in town. The town of Puerto Escondido is a funky cool beach town with many hidden gems throughout. Even things like sitting outside the local minimart "Super Mini 69" (in the Rinconada neighborhood) sipping a beer and smoking cuban cigars on the patio was relaxing fun. The beaches were picturesque, Playa Zicatella lined with beach bars, a wide sandy beach and water better left to strong swimmers and surfers. Manzanillo beach is protected and relaxing, with many places to sit and be served beverages. We had one dinner in town at the Espadin restaurant at the Villas Carrizalillo hotel overlooking Carrizalillo beach. Don't be taken aback by the dirt road leading to the hotel, it is very upscale and the food and view are outstanding!
Overall the entire experience was excellent, care free and highly recommended!"
